The Hunger Games

As a fan of the series, especially the first book which for me is the best of the three, I was absolutely happy with the movie. It was (almost) perfect. I am absolutely amazed that they were able to come up with a QUALITY movie, one that you can really be proud of. It feels like this will easily be a classic.

Wrath of the Titans

First of all, if you get dizzy easily, do NOT watch this on IMAX 3D. I had to close my eyes in many scenes because it was too much!

Mirror, Mirror

The movie was surprisingly ENTERTAINING! I did not expect that at all. It’s a comedy, and the whole theater laughed loudly at several scenes. It’s campy and exaggerated and if you accept that, you will enjoy! It’s funny! And then there were a couple of touching scenes, I actually teared up (yeah I’m a sucker and a crybaby).

Great actors, even if they’re unknown.  Surprisingly a very good movie.  8.5/10 for me.

Mixed feelings about the movie.

On one hand, it’s a pretty good action movie, which went up a few notches with Denzel’s acting. He’s just so damn good! Such a brilliant actor, still going at it even if it’s “only” an action movie. A serious Ryan Reynolds is also great to watch, especially for fans. Of course they made sure they had a couple of topless shots – typical – but it didn’t hurt because the scenes did not look forced at all. The setting, South Africa, was a good choice because of the color and the grit, which probably explained the chosen approach of the director.

Hugo

I thought that the movie was a bit dragging during some parts but I couldn’t get over how beautiful it was, so for me, it was forgiveable. I love the setting – it showed how Hugo, though still a child, kept everything going in his own way. It reinforced that he was a good clockmaker, who keeps things going, and fixes broken things. And boy, did he “fix” George Melies, a broken man, who wanted to leave his past behind.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’ is an extremely HEAVY movie. Seriously. I haven’t watched a hardcore drama movie like that in a long time. It’s something that I think we all need, once in a while. We need to take a break from all the romantic comedies, comedies, fantasies, and action movies.

Back!

Back with a new blog design!  I chose this theme because I am used to shorter posts now, because of social media.  Let’s see if this will inspire me to blog more.  Maybe it’s time to join Writers Block Philippines for a session too!

Happy New Year!

I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."

Smart LTE

I was fortunate to be chosen to be part of the closed beta testers group for Smart LTE.  I got my dongle from the Jump Experience center in Megamall last Thursday and tried to set it up that same night.   More…
