If you haven’t watched the movie yet, be warned – there are some spoilers ahead.

I wouldn’t go as far as others and say that this is the best superhero movie ever.  I don’t think it’s better than Nolan’s Batman movies – those, I think, are truly award-worthy.  This is still the typical superhero movie – predictable plot, same superhero-ish music, lots of action – but heck it was GOOD.

I’m still trying to figure out how Joss Whedon was able to let ALL of the characters shine and include kickass action and battle scenes that make sense.  (Michael Bay, watch and learn!)  The movie had everything – lots of awesome action, one on one fights between characters, an epic battle towards the end of the movie, lots of funny scenes, and even drama.  The pace was perfect.  The cast — ALL of them, were HOT. They all looked good kicking ass.

It wasn’t perfect – there were some very cheesy scenes I could have done without.  The worst one was the shot with all of the Avengers, posing, after Loki accepted that he had been defeated.  I counted at least 3 gratuitous shots of Cobie Smulders.  And while I like her very much, I felt those shots were a bit out of place in the otherwise smooth ‘flowing’  movie.  I also didn’t understand some parts, like why wasn’t Hulk able to control himself in the ship, but he was able to do so during the battle.

Because of this movie, I cannot wait for the next installments of Iron Man and Thor.  And of course, the sequel to this movie.  Well played, Marvel.  Well played.

Even with all the little flaws, I still give the movie 10/10.

The Cranberries

I watched The Cranberries Live in Manila last April 10 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.  Though the venue was only 65-70% full, the crowd was still great.  And kudos to the group who gave it their all.  After all these years, Dolores’ voice was still the same, beautiful, haunting, powerful.  The group started with Dreams which was immediately followed by Linger.  The last song before the encore was Zombie, and the very last song was Salvation.  It was a great night.

I have never followed Dancing With the Stars. But I will start following it now that I have “discovered” Derek Hough.  He’s such a great dancer!

I found out about Juju Cleanse because of a tweet, and I immediately checked out their website.  I researched a bit, and decided that I would try a 1 day cleanse during a long weekend.  I wanted a do it on a long weekend so that I will have a couple of days to recover, if necessary.  I wasn’t sure how the cleanse will affect.  And so the Holy Week was the perfect time for it.

Juju Cleanse is a set of drinks that cleanses your body.  You can choose between the 1 day cleanse or the 3 day cleanse.  And there are 3 levels – the higher the level, the more “green bombs” drinks you’ll take.  A Green Bomb has celery, cucumber, coconut water, malunggay, pineapple, romaine lettuce, and spinach.   The other drinks are: Red Giant (beets, carrot, ginger, pineapple), Spicy Limonada (cayenne pepper, honey, lemon), Alkazest (coconut water, grapefruit/orange, pineapple) and Salaba’t Lemon (ginger, honey, lemon).

I have to admit, the green bomb and the red giant taste awful.  I had a hard time finishing the bottles.  It took me at least 45 minutes to finish a bottle. I alternated drinking these drinks with water.  By the fourth bottle, I felt I couldn’t take it anymore.  There was just too much liquid!  But that’s the way it is, it is a juice cleanse after all.

Some warnings:

• You will go to the bathroom many, many times throughout the day.  I was expecting this, but I didn’t realize that it would be that often!
• The Red Giant stains, so careful when you handle the bottle and when you pour.

I did it!!!

I still have to see if this will really make me feel better for the next few days.  I hope it will because I plan to do this every 4 months or so.  Try it!
