Paid Bathrooms in Malls

There are two sides to this, for me.

On one hand, this is a blessing because I dread public bathrooms.  The bathrooms with fees are always clean, so I really prefer using them.

On the other hand, why do we need to pay for clean bathrooms?  Shouldn’t all the bathrooms be cleaned well (and often) even without the extra charge?

Nestea’s “Clean The Beach” VJ Search

Got this link from Jovan, who got it from our friend. Be warned, it’s painful to watch. I can’t describe what I’m feeling – I feel like laughing, I kinda pity the guy, I was embarrassed for him… It wast just really painful to watch.

I can understand Valentina Hasan’s Ken Lee lyrics more than this! I can’t understand what he’s saying!

Earth Hour

Earth Hour!

Happy Earth Hour to everyone! I am a proud participant of the global event, which happened more than an hour ago. I thought of going around the Metro during Earth Hour to check out which establishments joined but Jovan pointed out that if we do that, we’d be using up gas for nothing. So, we stayed home. My family and I turned off all our lights, airconditioning, TV. The only thing we left on was an electric fan, because of the intense heat. We stayed at our lanai, listened to the radio (which used batteries), and played with Graham. I greeted friends “Happy Earth Hour!” via text and was very happy to find out that they participated too. Most of the replies were “Same to you! It’s so dark!”. One of my friends said I lit up the room with the text, which meant that only the celphone light was on in his room. One of my friends was in a mall, and she said that a lot of establishments actually turned off their lights.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out yesterday that Starbucks was planning to support Earth Hour. And today, I found out that SM Malls are supporters too. That’s the way to go actually, tapping corporations with many establishments, because word of mouth will not be enough. Our neighbors, both to the left and the right did not participate – I’m not sure if they don’t care or they didn’t know about it, I would like to believe it’s the latter.

I’m not a hardcore ‘green’ person. I don’t preach to my friends or ride my bike to work. I don’t think I can give up my aircon and using the car. But I’m aware of the destruction of the environment and global warming, and I know something has to be done. This Earth Hour event is really, really awesome because in that one hour, we have saved a LOT of energy. One other thing we do is using reusable bags when we go to the grocery. We bought 3 bags and our monthly grocery items all fit in these bags. This is an awesome idea which I hope will be widespread soon because this means there will be less plastic bags used.

I hope we can have Earth Hour more often. Maybe 1 Earth Hour per month? That would be so awesome.

How about you? How did you spend Earth Hour?

TED: Ideas worth spreading.

Last week a friend sent to me a link which I am now very thankful for. I was introduced to TED, which stands for Technology Entertainment Design. It is an amazing, amazing site which features talks on some of the most interesting things. Here’s a short description of what TED is about:

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

This site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free.

TED‘s mission is to spread ideas.

We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we’re building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.

Check it out, it is a fascinating site. And oh yes, please help spread the word.

I love my Oakleys!

I am an Oakley addict, no thanks to Jovan my husband, who introduced to me the joys of owning and using an Oakley. You see, he’s a biker dude (that’s what I call cyclists, hehe) and he has been a loyal user since he was in high school. I didn’t understand it at first, but after he gave me my first Oakley (Juliet) as a gift there was no turning back. Even my eyeglasses are now Oakley, no thanks too to the ABSi peeps who seemingly have started a group.

Here are the Oakley’s that I own:

Chop Top 2.0

Hijinx

Juliet

Canteen

Jovan and I always – and I mean ALWAYS – check out the Oakley’s at Executive Optical Megamall, GForce Powerplant and Bonifacio High Street, and Perez Optical at Eastwood. It’s one of the things we enjoy doing together, one of our ‘bonding’ activities. That’s us, a couple of Oakley addicts!

Post

Wow, four months of not posting. Been helluva busy the past few months. I actually have two drafts, but those posts were written last September and October. So I figured that it’s better if I just start from scratch. As my starting point, I’ve decided to explain the flicker photos on the right (from the bottom).

Mads won an iPod video last Christmas season, and here she is showing it off. As you can see, she was very excited at that time. Currently, almost all of the members of our team has her own iPod.

Sherwin gave the content girls personalized SIM cards, with different quotes. Sharon’s says “Your shit is stupider than mine” because she’s the one who came up with the expression “Stupid shit”. Mads’ says “Will find content for food” – I honestly don’t know why. She eats the least in the group. But content is our business, so I guess this is still appropriate somehow. Mine says “Fuck! Pengeng content!” and Fen’s says “Shit! Tangina! Pengeng content!” Reflects that expressions we use in the office.

On Christmas day Jovan and I went out with Mads, Lester, and Cathy. We had an after dinner-dinner in North Park Greenhills. Lotsa food! Afterwards we went to Alabang (!) to have coffee at Starbucks. That was fun.

One boring evening sometime after that, we all met up again. We were all wearing red super hero shirts, except for Cathy, who still wanted to be Narnia (ding, ang bato! NARNIA!). Mads’s shirt was an Astroboy shirt, mine was Spiderman, Jovan’s was Flash. The picture’s really silly, and it really captured the essence of that night.

Met up with Bunny, her sisters and her nephew Gabe at Tiendesitas. Gabe is such a doll! But he was irritable that day, probably because it was so hot! We went around, and we found a really cute golden retriever that was sleeping. Sigh, I miss Zagu. :(

I bought a new pair of rubber shoes just recently which I plan to use for boxing. I’m planning to enroll at Elorde one of these days. I… need… to… lose… weight…

The latest picture was taken yesterday with my new service unit, a Nokia 6680. An okay phone, one that I wouldn’t buy on my own though. Jovan and I went to Glorietta to check out Hot Wind, and then Eastwood to watch a movie.

Well, this is a start. Hope I can keep this up throughout the year.
