The TV Shows I Follow

I watch A LOT of shows. But I’ve never really counted them, and I was inspired to count when a friend mentioned that he follows 30 shows.  So, let’s do this…

I have never followed Dancing With the Stars. But I will start following it now that I have “discovered” Derek Hough.  He’s such a great dancer!

I’ve never followed Dancing With The Stars.  But because of this dance, I just might follow the current season.  That dance was hot AND beautiful!

My TV Shows

by Robert Couse-Baker on Flickr

I follow way too many TV shows.  I watch while I’m working at home, I watch before I sleep, and I watch while in traffic.  Some of the shows I follow are really good, but there are others that are really just guilty pleasures.  Sometimes, I even wonder why I’m still following a show – there are shows that I don’t really like anymore, but because I’m heavily invested and I’m so into the story already, I continue to follow them because I want to know what’s going to happen next.  It takes a lot for me to stop watching a show that I’m following.

Here’s a list of all the shows that I’m following:

Undercovers

Photo from Yahoo TV

When I found out that JJ Abrams has a new show, I got really excited.  And then when I found out that it had the same premise as Mr. and Mrs. Smith, I got more excited!  The show, entitled “Undercovers”, is about a couple who used to be spies.   They retired after they fell in love and got into the catering business.  They were asked to go back into the spy world, and then there was no turning back.

Alas, after watching the first two episodes, the two words that best describes the show is “NOT ENOUGH”.  The show, being a spy show, tries to be exciting and action-packed, and it tries to be funny too with all the banter and bickering between the two lead characters.  Sadly, it falls short of everything – for me, it’s just not exciting enough, not hot enough, not funny enough. The action scenes are bordering on lame and there are too few, the sexy scenes are not hot, and the bickering is bordering on annoying.

The biggest problems, in my opinion, are the following: casting of the female lead character, and the chemistry of the two lead characters.  Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who plays Samantha Bloom, lovely as she is, just doesn’t come across as a credible and hot spy.  It doesn’t even matter if she wears sexy clothes, and has some sexy scenes.  She doesn’t look like a natural when she’s trying to unlock a door or difuse a bomb.  And then when she has scenes were her husband Steven Bloom, who is played by Boris Kodjoe, I don’t see the chemistry.

I’ll see if the next few episodes will be better.  I really hope so…

Chuck Season 4

Photo from Daemonstv.com

Nerdherders are rejoicing now that Chuck is back! And boy, is it stronger than ever!  The first episode of the fourth season brings a strong message – that Chuck means business.  And that they are doing everything to stay.  If the episode is an indication of what’s to come, then I would buy the full season if I were the network.

The producers realized that Chuck/Zachary Levi have a female following and decided to build on this by including shots of him topless.  He also has more close up shots.  They also made sure the guys had their fair share of sexiness by making Sarah more playful and adding Olivia Munn into the roster.  I just hope that her character will be important, and that she’s not just there for show.

One of the best, if not the best elements of this season is the addition of Linda Hamilton’s character, who’s pretty badass.  I can’t wait for her story to unfold.

So, fellow Chuck fans, things are looking good.  I hope this continues for the next few episodes so that we’ll be assured of a full season!

Nikita

Photo from Yahoo TV

I just had to check out Nikita when I found out it starred Maggie Q.  She caught my attention in Mission Impossible 3.

The show is okay.  I’ve watched the first two episodes already.  Although it’s nothing great yet, I think it’s promising.  I’m hoping it will improve in the future episodes.  The characters are very interesting.  There’s Michael, the seemingly badass handler who turns out to have a soft side and Alex, the young and eager trainee of both the government and Nikita.  Even the supporting characters are interesting.  I hope the storytelling will improve with the next few episodes, so that I’ll really be hooked.  For now, it’s wait-and-see.

I’m giving this series a chance.

True Blood Season 3

Photo from Buzz Sugar

[SPOILERS - If you've watched all the 9 episodes of Season 3 then you can go ahead and read...]

The latest season of True Blood is such a roller coaster ride for me.   One minute I absolutely love it, then the next minute – HATE HATE HATE!  There are new plots and characters that have captivated me, but there are those that I absolutely abhor.  Yes I do realize that “abhor” is a strong word but that’s just how I feel.

I *HATE* the Franklin-Tara sub-plot.  It’s disgusting.  I don’t get why they had to include this in the story.  There are already too many sub-plots, it’s bordering on confusing.  They could have done away with this.

I love the introduction of the vampire king of Mississippi, Russell.  I like how they connected him to the werewolves, to Bill and Sookie, to Eric, actually, practically almost all of the major characters.  This I definitely want to see develop throughout the season.

I also love the introduction of the wolves, very interesting how they connected the (bad) wolves to the vampires, and it doesn’t hurt that Alcide is hot.  I want to see where they will take his character.

I’m a sucker for romance and gooey-stuff, so I’m closely following Hoyt and Jessica’s story.  Their story, so far, is lighter and easier to take than the love/romance of Sookie and Bill, which is a welcome reprieve – I won’t be able to take it if it’s just all angst and blood and killing.

Why is Bill not affected by the sun???  What is Sookie’s other power, aside from hearing people’s thoughts?  Actually, what is she, is she human?  We’ll see where these will go, but they got my curiosity.

Jury’s still out on The Authority – let’s see where that will go.   Same with Lafayette and his new love – the development is so slow that it makes me wonder if it’s just fluff.  Surely, there is a purpose for this, but they need to give the audience some glimpses of what this sub-plot is for.   The sub-plot involving Sam’s brother and family was interesting at first, but I have no idea where it’s going now, so…

I can’t help but feel that there are TOO MANY things going on already.  I hope that the stories will “settle down” a bit and the connections of the sub-plots are introduced soon so that the audience won’t feel that everything is out of control.

American Idol 7 Winner – David Cook!

And the winner is… DAVID COOK!

By 12 million votes!!!

Though last night was David Archuleta’s time to shine, it wasn’t enough to make him win.  David Cook just had more “hits” and good performances throughout the season.  In this case, he wasn’t just as good as his last performance.   The voters remembered all his great performances, which included Hello, Eleanor Rigby, Billie Jean, and of course, Always Be My Baby.

After the show, all online indicators pointed to a David Cook win.  iTunes sales, internet polls, it was overwhelming.   What I thought was an exciting finale (not knowing who the winner will be until the last second) became more predictable as the night went on.

David Cook is the first rocker to win American Idol.  Awesome!  I cannot wait for the CDs/albums to come out.  I will be watching out for David Cook’s, David Archuleta’s, and Jason Castro.  Michael Johns singing Father Figure tonight was sexy, so maybe I’ll watch out for his CD too.

So to American Idol 7, congratulations on a good year.  Hopefully next year you can mix it up a bit, ratings are probably going down because the format is practically the same yearly.  But heck, “low ratings” is still higher than most shows out there combined!  Hopefully next year too, no more Neil Diamond week, m’okay?  That was really lame.   And please, please, keep Idol Gives Back.

Congratulations to David Cook!
