Peryodiko’s “Sa Magkabilang Dulo”

Lifehouse Live in Manila!

Have to admit that I didn’t know many Lifehouse songs (or maybe I did, I just didn’t know it was from them or what the song titles were).  But I wanted to watch because I really, really love “Hanging By A Moment”.  And boy, Lifehouse didn’t disappoint!   Jason Wade sounds so good live.  And, the crowd was great!  Lifehouse said that Manila was one of their favorite places, and it was obvious why!  There was so much love for the group, they looked overwhelmed.

The Cranberries Live in Manila

The Cranberries

I watched The Cranberries Live in Manila last April 10 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.  Though the venue was only 65-70% full, the crowd was still great.  And kudos to the group who gave it their all.  After all these years, Dolores’ voice was still the same, beautiful, haunting, powerful.  The group started with Dreams which was immediately followed by Linger.  The last song before the encore was Zombie, and the very last song was Salvation.  It was a great night.

Check out the full photo album here.  And check out The Cranberries’ new album, Roses.

U2 360 – Reminiscing

Last year, I witnessed one of the best concerts EVER, featuring the most amazing band.  Last December 13, 2011, I watched U2 360 in Sydney with some of my best friends.  And it was EPIC.

Ken Lee!

Was going through my posts and it seems that a LOT of people are still searching for “Ken Lee“! It has been 2 months already! Is this on its way to becoming a classic or something?

For everyone still searching, here are the posts to the lyrics of Ken Lee:

U2 3D ROCKS!!!

I watched U2 3D with friends around 2 weeks ago and I haven’t blogged about it until now. I just can’t find the words to describe it. It was really awesome. You need to go there though with the mindset that you are going to a concert, not to watch a movie.

The shots were great, especially those coming from the crowd. You really feel that you are there, jumping and singing and having fun with everyone else.

Bono is an amazing performer. After all these years, he still has it. His voice is still solid!

U2 3D is amazing, and it has set the bar for 3D concerts. I really hope that U2 will come to Philippines. That would awesome too, seeing them LIVE!

Swing Out Sister Live in Manila!

Beautiful Mess Last Monday I watched the Swing Out Sister concert at Araneta Coliseum with Jovan, Karen, Carlo (my brother in law) and his date. Let me put it this way. The first part was a disaster, but the second part was awesome. All in all, it was worth it!

Jovan was concerned with the parking so we made sure we were there by 6PM. We had dinner at Cafe Bola, went around Gateway, then we entered Araneta at around 7:45PM. Should have been perfect because the concert was supposed to start at 8PM. At 8:30PM, it hasn’t started yet. We watched the looped videos of the ads, and this Steve Tyrell guy whom they were forcing on us because apparently, they were bringing him in for a concert. Finally, the lights dimmed. People started to cheer! Then suddenly, the announcer says “Ladies and gentlemen… Ms. Faith Cuneta!”

WHAT?! Okay, so there was a front act. Which we DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT. Whose music is SO not similar to Swing Out’s music. She had lame spiels and she praised Ovation Productions several times. It was really, really pathetic. But what I liked about Faith Cuneta was that she KNEW we were all there for Swing Out, and didn’t pretend that it was about HER. She was grateful after every song because the audience was polite enough to clap each time. She made the mistake of asking “You want to hear one more song?” to which the audience replied “Nooooo!” She said “I knew it, but here’s my last song anyway…” Check out the updates on my Twitter, hehe.

Back to the ads. The audience was getting sick of them. People were clapping from time to time, hoping that the actual concert would start soon. But the ads continued. The audience started to jeer when they showed the Steve Tyrell video again. It was just too much! That was the cue for the production people to stop the video. We still had to wait for several minutes though.

Finally, at around 9:30PM, the concert started. Swing Out Sister was (were?) thrilled to have the concert at the venue of Thrilla in Manila, and so they used the usual boxing introduction music (was that for Rocky? I don’t know…) when they went on stage. End of first part. More…

Music and Lyrics

I was finally able to watch the movie last night with Jovan, Sharon and Cathy. Nice movie! Well, it’s the usual romantic comedy, but it was very entertaining. The start was hilarious, and the songs are very catchy. All in all, it was worth my money.

Speaking of music, and lyrics, I am loving the Grey’s Anatomy soundtracks. I’m not much into the new hits right now. I stick to my old, reliable, favorite songs, so I don’t know a lot of the new songs. But during our stay in Antulang, I listened to Sharon’s iPod, and was pleasantly surprised at how good the new songs are.

Some recent lyrics I discovered which reflect what’s going on:

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How To Save A Life, The Fray

I’ve been watching for the stars that used to shine
I’ve been searching but I just don’t see the signs
I know that it’s out there
There gotta be something for my soul somewhere
All I wanna do is find the way back into love
I can’t make it through without a way back into love
Way Back Into Love

Wait, wait till the signs are right
Wait till the perfect time
And you will wait too long he will be gone, he will be gone
Ooh, he will be gone
Ooh, he will be gone
Wait, Get Set Go

Nothing comes easily
Fill this empty space
Nothing is like it seems
Turn my grief to grace
Grace, Kate Havnevik
